What Is Acura A1 and A2 Service?

 

Acura models feature a handy system called Acura Maintenance Minder™ that alerts Manhasset drivers to when their vehicles need certain services. It does this by using Acura service codes, two of the most common of which are Acura A1 service codes and Acura A2 service codes. But what is Acura A1 service and A2 service? Acura Service Codes

Acura service codes are broken down into two primary categories: A and B. Let’s take a look at the different services indicated by each letter:

A:

  • Replace engine oil

B:

  • Replace engine oil* and oil filter
  • Inspect front and rear brakes­
  • Check parking brake adjustment­
  • Check expiration date for temporary tire repair kit bottle(if equipped)
  • Inspect tie rod ends
  • Steering gearbox
  • Boots
  • Inspect suspension components
  • Inspect driveshaft boots
  • Inspect brake hoses and lines (including ABS/VSA)
  • Inspect all fluid levels and condition of fluids
  • Inspect exhaust system**
  • Inspect fuel lines and connections**

Garden City drivers should note that each letter can be accompanied by numbers 1-6, each of which work to further specify the nature of the problem your vehicle is having. Let’s take a look at what each number can represent:

1:

  • Rotate tires

2:

  • Replace air cleaner element
  • Replace dust and pollen filter
  • Inspect drive belt

3:

  • Replace transmission fluid

4:

  • Replace spark plugs
  • Replace timing belt
  • Inspect water pump
  • Inspect valve clearance

5:

  • Replace engine coolant

6:

  • Replace rear differential fluid

Acura A1 Service Codes

So, what is an Acura A1 service code? Combine A and 1, and it means that it’s time to replace your engine oil and rotate your tires.

Acura A2 Service Codes

What is an Acura A2 service code? A2 means that it’s both time to replace your oil, and that you either need to inspect your drive belt, replace your air cleaning element, or change out your pollen filter.
