What Can We Glean from a Look at the Possible 2018 Acura TLX Prototype?

2017 Acura TLX

The 2017 Acura TLX is currently one of the most popular models in the showroom here at Rallye Acura. With its whisper-quiet interior, powerful available V6 engine, and generous amount of space, the TLX line has been very hard to beat, and Acura is now having to outpace their own standout vehicle with a 2018 Acura TLX prototype.

Luckily enough, it seems as if they might have done just that. We’ve just seen snaps of what appears to be the latest one, and it hints at some very welcome changes for the next TLX.

Our 2018 Acura TLX Prototype Insights

The most recent full redesign of the TLX line made the vehicle a little more streamlined and precise, but the upcoming 2018 model seems to going even bolder. Of course, the prototype was concealed under the customary heavy camouflaging, so we’re not yet able to confirm exactly how the TLX will look, but we can still make some pretty strong guesses.

For example, the camouflaging wasn’t quite good enough to cover the new diamond pentagon grille. That’s the same front end we’ve seen adorning both the Acura Precision Concept and the refreshed 2018 Acura TLX, and it helps create a more daring and athletic front end, even while headlights stay sleek and angular.

The rest of the 2018 prototype is less easy to read, but we didn’t spot any of the silver window trim that has become so typical of the TLX. There does seem to be something going on with the rear end; the large lip has been retained, but the overall shape appears slightly different. We’ll just have to wait to find out.

We’re particularly interested to discover whether the 2018 TLX will come with visible exhaust outlets, which drivers have been requested now for some time. All Acura models currently possess hidden exhaust tips, but top-level executives have previous hinted that an updated TLX would deliver more of a high-performance design.

The 2018 Acura Prototype Has Excited the Imaginations at Rallye Acura

Of course, we can’t confirm what Acura are actually planning with the 2018 TLX, but these potential prototype snaps from California have gotten hearts beating across Port Washington and Manhasset.
